Sam A. Baker Trip #1
About a week ago, Kelly said we would be able to go camping on May 5th but only for one night. There isn't much more that needs to be said for me to get excited to go. Camden had a birthday party Friday night and we had Survivor Night for the college class, which Kelly and I were helping with.
It was kind of a late night, and halfway through the night, Paxton showed up at our bed and was saying is belly hurt...this is never a good sign right before a trip, much less camping. He slid into bed with us and I was about pushed out into the floor. I woke up and got some groceries and started packing. Camden was spending the weekend with his grandparents so it was just Kelly, Paxton and me. Camden was picked up and we were off.
We arrived at our favorite state park...Sam A. Baker (so far it is our favorite). We didn't have reservations, so we drove around for a little bit searching for the spot we wanted. After finding the best spot we've ever had campground one spot 119. We were hesitant at first because we were right across from the shower house but look at this big field right behind us. Honestly, it wasn't a big deal at all, no one bothered us!
We got there just in time for lunch. Ham and cheese sandwiches.
Paxton's favorite...Pumpkin Pie
Kelly rocking the camping braids and her new obsession, sparkling water (yuck, not my fav)
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Our little setup!
Paxton found some friends next door and played ball with them for a long time.
While he played Mommy and Daddy got to read a little bit!
Camp Braid Selfie!
Chillin' with his bubble gun, it was a big hit with the neighbor kids!
What would a trip to Sam A. Baker be without a trip to the camp store...our kids LOVE that place!
Pax clownin' with the 'Indian Whistle' he got!
It was a long and eventful day. Pax and I took a trip to the shower house to get cleaned up and back to the camper for a movie and bed!
There isn't anything like waking up when camping, some coffee, some book, some fresh air!
Rockin' those morning vibes!
I must say we are a little nerdy, we do as many of the programs as we can at the state parks. Today's was a Mammal identification. We rode our bikes to the visitor's center to get some of that learnin'!
Waiting for it to start
Only one more program and he get his first Missouri State Park Explore Badge! We got all but two right. We missed Mink and Mountian Lion.
He was quite impressed at how big and soft the fox's tail was!
After the explorer program, we rode our bikes around the campground a few more times and packed up and headed home.
The work is never done... We are going camping next weekend for Mother's Day and we really needed to wash it before the next trip. Lucky for me, I have some good help!
